  • On March 16, 1966, at 704 E. Broadway, in Anaheim, California, brothers Paul Van Doren, James Van Doren,and three other partners opened up their first store. The Van Doren Rubber Company was unique in that it manufactured shoes and sold them directly to the public. On that first morning, 12 customers purchased Vans deck shoes, which are now known as Authentic. The shoes that were made earlier that day were ready for pick-up in the afternoon. With the history lesson out of the way, the good people over at Vans Vault decided to have a small history lesson this summer with the re-release of their Van Doren collection including the OG Era, Slip-On and Sk8-Hi.     British designer Nigel Cabourn just released some new jackets from its collection Spring / Summer 2012: Cameraman Jackets , Surface Jackets , Mallory Jackets , Aircraft Jackets , Tenzing Jackets , etc.. The label continues to be inspired by military aesthetics, including the uniforms of the Desert Rats, the British military troops stationed in North Africa during World War II.
