From May 1943 to January 1946, Rosa Rita Samona worked as a burner for Delta Shipyards in New Orleans, LA, cutting and burning holes in sheets of steel for the production of Liberty ships at a rate of $1.20 a day. She received the E-Award and Ships for Victory medal given for excellence in war production and outstanding job performance. Gift of Rosa Rita Samone, The National WWII Museum.
