I was told this hadn’t left the duffel bag since 1945.

Found
WWII issued denim deck jacket. The denim is a lot heavier than the 1922 version I found last year. This compares more to a 14 ounce denim compared to the earlier type which is a lot lighter, apart from that its virtually the same pattern except for the shank buttons being plastic instead of the 3 piece metals ones from the 1922 type I.

Seeking to rescue a Marine who was drowning in the surf at Iwo Jima, these six soldiers narrowly missed meeting their own deaths when their amphibian truck was swamped by heavy seas, 11 March 1945.
